Vapor Intrusion Mitigation Services

Vapor Intrustion Mitigation Services

No matter where homes or buildings are situated, they can be affected by vapor intrusion, which is the process by which volatile compounds enter a home through cracks and fissures in the foundation.

Vapor intrusion can involve naturally occurring gases such as radon (a radioactive gas that is prevalent in North America and beyond), or it can be tied to contaminated soil or groundwater underneath the home or chemical spills in the immediate area of buildings occupied by humans. While some gases can easily be detected because of their strong smell, others (like radon) are odorless and other gases may be harmful at concentrations below which they can be smelled.

Lindmark Engineering has many years of experience in conducting vapor intrusion evaluations and risk assessments for commercial sites as well as especially sensitive sites such as schools. As a part of our services, human health risk assessments are often performed. Once the risks are understood, we can devise solutions such as active or passive Vapor Intrusion Mitigation systems or implement vapor remediation, which may include many approaches of which vapor extraction is most common.
